SRINAGAR: A massive fire broke out at the residence of Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) National Convenor Nasir Khuehami in Bandipora on Thursday, completely gutting the house and causing extensive damage to property.According to Khuehami, the devastating blaze reduced his family home to ashes, resulting in the loss of household items, valuables, and personal belongings worth lacs, accumulated over the years.

Several members of his family including his father, mother, elder sister (who had undergone a major surgery just two days earlier), and two cousins, sustained injuries in the incident. They are currently under medical care and are reported to be out of danger.While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be officially determined, preliminary reports indicate that an electrical short circuit may have triggered the blaze.

Local residents, along with fire and emergency services, immediately rushed to the spot to help contain the flames and rescue those trapped inside. Despite their efforts, the fire caused extensive damage before being brought under control.Expressing deep anguish over the incident, Khuehami described it as “an incredibly distressing and emotional experience for my entire family.”

He added that the loss is not merely material but deeply personal, as decades of memories and belongings were reduced to ashes within moments.People from different walks of life, including J&K Chief Minister’s Office, former Chief Ministers, former ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and leaders across political and social spectrums from various parts of the country, have expressed their deep sympathy and solidarity with Khuehami and his family. Many of them conveyed their support through personal messages and social media, describing the incident as an unfortunate tragedy and praying for the family’s speedy recovery.

The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association expressed deep concern over the devastating fire incident and offered its assistance to the affected family in this hour of distress. The Association stands in solidarity with Nasir Khuehami and his family, extending every possible support as they rebuild and recover from this unfortunate tragedy.
