KISHTWAR: Senior Congress leader and former minister G. M. Saroori has expressed deep sorrow and concern over the tragic fire incident that occurred at Balana Keshwan area of District Kishtwar, where a residential house belonging to Sajjad Hussain Mir was completely gutted in flames. Saroori urged the district administration to provide immediate relief and assistance to the affected family and ensure that all possible support, including temporary shelter, ration, and other essential supplies, is extended without delay.
Reiterating his long-standing demand for the establishment of a Fire Brigade Station at Keshwan, Saroori emphasized that timely response mechanisms are crucial to prevent such devastating losses in the future. Expressing solidarity with the victim’s family, Saroori said, “This unfortunate incident once again highlights the urgent need for better emergency infrastructure in far-flung areas. I stand firmly with the affected family in this difficult time.”
He urged the Chief Minister, Lieutenant Governor’s Administration, and the Fire & Emergency Services Department to immediately sanction and operationalize a Fire Brigade Unit at Keshwan, equipped with trained personnel and modern firefighting vehicles, to safeguard lives and property. Saroori also demanded immediate relief and adequate compensation for the victims whose houses were gutted in the recent fire, calling on the administration to conduct a swift damage assessment and extend assistance under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms.
He further stated, “The people of Keshwan and adjoining areas have been demanding this essential facility for years. The government must act without further delay to prevent such tragedies and ensure that no family suffers again due to administrative neglect.”
