SRINAGAR: In a major political development, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Shri Tariq Hameed Karra, along with CLP Leader and AICC General Secretary Shri Ghulam Ahmad Mir and other senior leaders, welcomed hundreds of prominent political figures into the Congress Party at the Srinagar Party Headquarters.
The new entrants from the Chenab Valley were led by Senior Congress Leader and Former Minister Shri G. M. Saroori. Welcoming the new members, the JKPCC President said that this significant joining reflects the growing trust of the people in Congressâs pro-people policies and its steadfast commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, Karra said that prominent faces from various parties including DPAP, BJP, NC, and PDP are joining Congress because of its vigorous fight for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmirâs dignity, honour, and statehood â all of which were taken away by the BJP government at the Centre with a single stroke of the pen.
âPeople have now realized how the BJP has pushed J&K towards darkness. Once considered a princely state with a unique identity, Jammu and Kashmir has been systematically stripped of its constitutional and political stature,â Karra said.
Karra also highlighted the pivotal role of the Chenab Valley in Jammu and Kashmirâs politics and urged the new entrants to strengthen the Congress at the grassroots level. âYour hard work and dedication can instill new confidence among the people and give a fresh direction to the politics of the Chenab Valley,â he added, while urging them to prepare for the upcoming ULB and Panchayat elections.
On the occasion, CLP Leader and AICC General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir also addressed the gathering, congratulating the new entrants and commending their decision to join the Congress at this crucial political juncture. He said that the inclusion of prominent and experienced figures from the Chenab Valley will significantly strengthen the Congress Party at the grassroots level.
Mir reiterated that the Congress has always stood by the people of Jammu and Kashmir in every difficult phase and will continue its fight for justice, equality, and restoration of statehood. He urged the new entrants to work collectively to reinforce the partyâs presence across all regions and to rebuild public faith in democratic institutions, which, he said, have been weakened under the current dispensation.
The new entrants expressed full faith in the leadership of Congress and reaffirmed their commitment to work tirelessly for the partyâs success and for the welfare of the people in their respective areas. Prominent district presidents, legislators, and senior party functionaries were also present on the occasion.
