KUPWARA: Transport Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara, during his two day visit to Kupwara district, reviewed the status of transport services in the district. The Commissioner visited Tangdar where he participated in a road safety road show. He administered the road safety pledge to hundreds of participants. Highlighting the road safety measures, the Commissioner urged upon all stakeholders to play their roles in minimizing the road accidents.
The Commissioner also visited the first village of the country, Seemari Teetwal located on Zero Line, and assessed transport facilities there. He interacted with the locals and sought their feedback on transport services. Earlier on reaching Kupwara, the Transport Commissioner inspected the ARTO Kupwaraâs Office and took on-spot appraisal of online services âVahanâ and âSaarthiâ.
On the occasion, he emphasized the importance of timely service delivery to ensure smooth and effective operations for the general public. The Transport Commissioner also engaged with the staff members of the ARTO office, reviewing their work assignments and directing them to resolve any pending tasks swiftly. He emphasized the importance of addressing public grievances in a timely manner.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner participated in a blood donation camp at Kupwara Bus Stand, organized by ARTO Kupwara in collaboration with transporters of Kupwara district. The Commissioner held a meeting with transport associations from the district, during which he was apprised of various issues affecting the transport sector. He assured the representatives that their genuine demands would be addressed promptly, reinforcing the departmentâs commitment towards supporting the transport community. The Commissioner was accompanied by RTO Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari and ARTO Kupwara, Bilal Ahmed Mir besides other officers.
