DODA: The District Administration Doda today organized a grand celebration to commemorate 150 years of the iconic national song “Vande Mataram”, symbolizing India’s enduring spirit of freedom, pride and cultural heritage. The event was held in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, and witnessed overwhelming participation from Officers, officials, students, Anganwadi workers and members of the civil society.

The commemoration was organized as part of a nationwide celebration and was live-streamed along with the address of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who reflected on the historical significance and emotional power of Vande Mataram as a unifying force in India’s freedom struggle.

The programme commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by a soulful invocation of “Vande Mataram”, which set a deeply patriotic tone for the day. A series of cultural performances, including songs, recitations and dance presentations inspired by themes of national pride, added color and fervor to the occasion. A short film on the legacy of “Vande Mataram” was also screened, highlighting its timeless relevance and its role in inspiring generations of Indians.

Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC),    Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)   and other government functionaries spoke about the historical roots of Vande Mataram, written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875 and how it became an anthem of courage and devotion during India’s freedom movement. They also emphasized the importance of preserving such national symbols as a source of inspiration for the youth and a reminder of India’s collective identity.

 Meanwhile, Vande Mataram celebrations were held across all Sub-Divisions, Tehsil Headquarters and other institutions throughout the district, where Officers, officials, students and local communities came together to pay tribute to the timeless spirit of the national song.
