• Pitches for instilling spirit of constitutionalism among people

JAMMU: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmad Rana today exhorted for instilling spirit of constitutionalism to build a just and equitable society. He called for defeating reactionary forces inimical to social progress and reforms, for a stronger and more inclusive India. He was speaking at a function organised by Shri Guru Ravidas Sabha, Bahu Fort to celebrate the constitution day.

Addressing the gathering, Rana remarked that it was a matter of immense pride for every citizen to commemorate the adoption of our Constitution. He said that Constitution is the supreme book of land and has shown the right path to tackle the various challenges that have cropped up from time to time. “Conspiracies are being hatched to weaken our constitution, both from within and outside, but we have to defeat those evil designs with united hands,” he exhorted.

Recalling, Dr. Ambedkar’s tireless and inspiring efforts to uplift the marginalized and fight against social injustice, Rana said that his efforts for social justice were transformative that laid the foundation for empowerment and emancipation of marginalised communities in India. The Minister remarked that the issues confronting our society are not because we are lacking any talent but people are divided in many respects.

“We as responsible members of the society have to work in a united manner and stand up for our rights. We have to seriously think for the betterment of our future generations and fulfil our responsibilities with dedication and honesty,” he added. The Minister said that Constitution is a milestone that needs to be celebrated by every stakeholder of Indian democracy.

Underlining that today India was laying a lot of emphasis on becoming Vishwaguru, Rana said that the goal will be realised only by taking all sections of the society along, irrespective of their faith, caste or any other distinction. Rana also emphasised that the Government under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is leaving no stone unturned to remove the difficulties in the lives of its people.

“We have committed to people of Jammu and Kashmir certain promises in our manifesto and our government is working to fulfil those at an earliest,” he said. On the occasion, Rana also felicitated meritorious students who have excelled in various competitive examinations at local and national level. He also announced that the government will bear the costs of publication of the Dogri translation of the Indian Constitution done by a student.
