- Meets several deputations, individuals; assesses public grievances
JAMMU: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmad Rana, today exhorted upon the officers from Jammu division to work towards further improvement in ease of living for the people with emphasis on ensuring delivery of services at their doorsteps. The Minister issued these directions during a meeting of officers from Poonch district and other senior officers from various departments of Jammu division.
He stressed the urgent need for inclusive development that reaches every region and sub-region of J&K, particularly areas that have long been neglected. While reaffirming government's commitment towards ensuring progress of far-flung areas, Rana said that it is earnest effort of the elected government to ensure that the benefits are accrued to the last man.
Javed Rana called for enhancing both the level of sophistication and the speed of implementation of beneficiary oriented schemes and directed the officers to work in a coordinated manner for speedy delivery of services. Earlier, several deputations and individuals today called on the Minister and apprised him of their demands and grievances.
A delegation from Samba engaged in Jal Shakti Department as daily wagers apprised the Minister about their issues and sought early redressal of the same. They demanded release of their long pending wages since several months. Another delegation of daily wagers demanded implementation of Minimum Wages Act in Jammu and Kashmir for daily rated workers.
Similarly, another delegation from Sidhra led by former Corporator, Shama Akhter also called on the Minister and thanked him for resolving the issue of water supply in their area.
The Minister gave patient hearing to all the delegations and individuals and assured an early redressal of their genuine demands and issues. He said that the issues projected by them would be taken up with the concerned departments for immediate redressal. In some cases, the Minister also gave on spot instructions to the concerned officers for redressal of the grievances.
