HANDWARA: Continuing its drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, Police in Handwara carried out a special drive across different areas of the Police District and seized (11 vehicles) 01 JCB, 07 tractors, 03 tippers, used in the extraction and transportation of minerals without legal permission. Acting on specific leads and in strict compliance with environmental and mining regulations, teams from various police units launched coordinated inspections and checks. The seized vehicles were found operating in violation of mining norms and without valid documentation.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify and take action against those involved in the illegal trade. Police remains committed to protecting natural resources and urges the general public to report any instances of illegal mining or mineral transportation to the nearest police station. Strict action under law shall be taken against violators.
