KISHTWAR: To enforce order and road safety measures, district administration on Wednesday initiated a major action against the unauthorized vendors and traffic violators. A joint team led by Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Idrees Lone along with Executive Officer MC Mumtaz Mirza, Naib Tehsildar, SHO and DTI removed unauthorized street vendors and fined traffic violators in the town area alongside the National Highway.
The drive aimed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and hassle free movement of pedestrians in the township of Kishtwar and inculcate the sense of traffic discipline. The initiative sought to alleviate traffic congestion and promote hassle-free movement within the town. Key Items seized during the crackdown included 12 Rehris (handcarts), 14 beds, 20 crates, 5 wooden rehris. The seized items were removed to clear illegal occupations along the National Highway in the town area.
In addition to this, 34 vehicles were challaned, 2 vehicles were seized and a total fine of ₹29,500 was recovered from violators. The ACR issued a strict warning to the public, emphasizing that violations, including illegal parking, will attract stringent penalties.
Meanwhile, the DC has declared the stretches from New DC Office Complex, Zellana Road to Malipeth and Kuleed Chowk to Girinagar alongside the National Highway as no parking zones and appealed to the public and shopkeepers to use designated parking spaces only. The District Administration has also banned the use of polythene in the town and appealed to the public to extend full cooperation to make town polythene free.
