UDHAMPUR “Display Your Talent 2024 - Devika Zone,” organised by Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu concluded today at Udhampur campus. This event offered a dynamic platform for students to showcase their talents, reflecting the vision of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu to enhance cultural engagement and accessibility across the university community.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries who recognized the remarkable performances and efforts of the participants. Dr. Jagdish C. Mehra, JKAS Secretary of the J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board, was the Chief guest of the event. He presented awards to the winners, emphasizing the importance of cultural activities in the comprehensive development of students.
Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, Rector of Udhampur Campus, extended his gratitude to the University of Jammu for fostering a nurturing platform that encourages artistic expression, commending the dedication and creativity of all participants. Distinguished attendees included Prof. Vishav Raksha, Convenor of NSS, University of Jammu, Dr. Jyoti Sharma, member of the Campus Cultural Committee, and Dr. Sarabjeet Kour and Dr. Rajber Singh, observers from the Campus Cultural Committee, University of Jammu.
The first day of the event showcased student talent in diverse categories, including Light Vocal (Solo), Poster Making, Classical Instrumental, Photography, Cartooning, Group Song (Indian), Quiz, Rangoli, and Mehndi. The second day offered further competitions in Skit, Mimicry, Mime, One Act Play, Western Vocal Solo, Western Group Song, Western Instrumental Solo, Group Dance (Folk), Debate, Elocution, Painting, and Clay Modeling. Each performance resonated with enthusiasm as students vied for top honors, representing colleges with immense pride and passion.
Among the standout performances, GCW Udhampur clinched 1st Prize in Skit, with Udhampur Campus and GDC Boys taking 2nd and 3rd Prizes respectively. In Mimicry, Kanchan from GCW Udhampur won 1st Prize, while Santosh and Mehak from GDC Udhampur earned 2nd and 3rd places. The Mime category was led by GCW Udhampur, followed by Udhampur Campus. GCW Udhampur also triumphed in the One Act Play and Group Dance (Folk), solidifying their presence across various categories.
The Debate competition saw GDC Udhampur securing 1st Prize, with Bhartiya College Udhampur impressing the judges. In Painting, Mani Rathore of GCW Udhampur took 1st Prize, followed by Anisha from GDC Ramnagar and Sumit Kumar from GDC Udhampur. Ansh Rawat from Bhaskar College excelled in Western Vocal Solo and Western Instrumental Solo, while GCW Udhampur won the Western Group Song competition.
The valedictory concluded with a grand celebration, as prizes and certificates were distributed to honor the achievements of the students. “Display Your Talent 2024 - Devika Zone” underscored the University of Jammu’s commitment to cultural and artistic growth, uniting students across Jammu Province in a celebration of talent and creativity.
