BARIBRAHMANA: Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) and Government Degree College for Women, Kathua signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) here on Thursday to work together for entrepreneurship development and startup related services.
The MoU was signed by Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Director, JKEDI and Dr. Savi Behl, Principal, GDC for Women, Kathua, in the presence of Dr. Inderjeet Kour and Dr. Babita Mahajan, Associate Professors, GDC Kathua and officers/officials of JKEDI.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and self-reliance among the youth, particularly women, in the region. The partnership will focus on organizing entrepreneurship development programs (EDPs), workshops, training sessions, and mentorship opportunities to nurture startups and equip students with the skills required to excel in the entrepreneurial landscape.
Speaking on the occasion, Director JKEDI emphasized the critical role educational institutions play in fostering an entrepreneurial mindset. He stressed that initiatives like these are a step forward in empowering the youth of J&K in realizing their potential and contribution to the economic development of the region through entrepreneurship. Dr. Savi Behl highlighted the importance of this initiative for women in Kathua. âWe are proud to partner with JKEDI in this endeavour. This collaboration will provide our students with a platform to turn their ideas into viable business ventures, promoting self-reliance and innovation,â she remarked.
The signing ceremony concluded with a discussion on future plans and strategies to implement the objectives outlined in the MoU. The initiative is expected to serve as a model for other institutions in the UT of J&K, contributing to the broader goal of establishing a robust startup ecosystem in the region.
