JAMMU: Under the dynamic patronage of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Central University of Jammu in collaboration with Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Prant, successfully conducted a Two-week ICSSR-sponsored Capacity Building Programme on Incorporating Bhartiya Knowledge Traditions in Teaching and Research: Perspectives, Challenges and Way Forward from 20th November,- 3rd December, 2024 wherein participants from across the nation, including Delhi, Haryana, Kerala, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab.
Sharing his vision of incorporating Bhartiya knowledge systems in teaching and research, Prof. Sanjeev Jain who is also the Chairman (Adhyaksh) of BSM, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Prant, said that Bharat today is poised to emerge as a Vishva Guru and role of higher education in conducting Bharat-centric teaching and research will contribute profoundly and CU Jammu is taking lead in this direction.
The valedictory address was delivered by Prof. Sandeep Kulshreshtha, former Director of IITM, Gwalior and a Professor in the Department of Tourism and Travel Management, Central University of Himachal Pradesh. Prof. Kulshreshtha, eloquently emphasized the importance of incorporating Bhartiya knowledge traditions into modern education and research.
Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu thanked the event organisers for their tireless efforts to materialise a relevant and significant event like this. He called for the extension of this event to local schools and colleges. The Programme Director, Prof Vandana Sharma, Dean, School of Languages, Central University of Jammu shared her experiences of envisioning such an illustrious event and said the event was conceptualized and executed under the guidance of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain.
Dr. Deepak Kumar, Assistant Professor, New Delhi Institute of Management, presented a detailed report on the programme's activities and outcomes, highlighting its focus on integrating Dr. Indu Bala, Assistant Professor, Desh Bhagat University, extended heartfelt thanks to the organizers and participants for their enthusiastic involvement. The cultural richness of the event was accentuated by a classical music performance by Baibhav Datta, a B.Tech student from the Central University of Jammu. Dalesh Thakur concluded the session with the Kalyan Mantra, ending the event on a spiritual note, while Amisha Negi, University of Delhi gracefully conducted the event.
The 12 days rigorous programme with 36 sessions sponsored by ICSSR served as a dynamic platform for academicians, researchers, and practitioners to deliberate on the incorporation of Bhartiya knowledge traditions into teaching and research, addressing both its potential and the challenges involved. This successful initiative underscores the Central University of Jammu's commitment to fostering intellectual growth and promoting the integration of India's rich knowledge heritage into the academic framework.
