SRINAGAR: Reinforcing the ongoing efforts against drug peddlers/smugglers, Srinagar Police has attached properties worth more than 3 crores belonging to drug peddlers under the provisions of section 68 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Srinagar Police has attached a three-storied residential house of a drug peddler namely Abdul Ahad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat resident of Banpora Batamaloo on land bearing Khewat No.137 and Khasra No.294 (Abadi Deh) at Banpora Batamaloo worth Rs 65 lakhs under section 68 of NDPS Act in case FIR No. 31 of 2024. The accused person is a notorious drug peddler who sold drugs among the youth upon which case FIR No.31/2024 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Shaheed Gunj, where a substantial amount of narcotics was recovered.
In another case, a three-storied residential house situated at H.No.18, Umer Lane Azad Basti, under Survey no. 1764 estimated at a value of Rs 2.5 crores, belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Bhat father of Jan Manzoor Bhat resident of Natipora, was attached under section 68(F) of NDPS Act. The accused person namely Jan Manzoor Bhat is also a drug peddler who peddled narcotics among the youth of the area upon which case FIR No. 35/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Chanapora.
Both the aforementioned properties were acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade. Consequently, these have been attached subject to the confirmation from the competent authority and administrator SAFEMA and NDPSA.
In compliance to section 68 E and 68 F of NDPS Act, the immovable property acquired by the accused persons through illegal means seized or attached, shall not be transferred/sold/purchased or otherwise dealt with without the prior permission of the competent authority. This decisive action underscores the unwavering commitment of J&K Police in eradicating the drug menace and dismantling the infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking.
