JAMMU: The Office of Dean Students’ Welfare, Central University Jammu, through its Fine Arts Society SOCRITI, organized a spectacular Tribal Art Exhibition at the DDE Building, Central University Jammu. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Chancellor Central University of Jammu, Ambassador G. Parthasarathy and Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain. Hon’ble Chancellor, Ambassador G. Parthasarathy, inaugurated the Exhibition.
The event began with a poignant Pushpanjali ceremony in honour of the Tribal Freedom Fighters as part of the ongoing Janjatiya Gaurav Week celebrations. In collaboration with The Manuscript Conservation Centre, Shashwat Art Gallery Jammu, the exhibition showcased a diverse array of traditional Bakarwal, Gaddi, Dogra and Tribal Jewellery, art and paintings providing a rich cultural experience for the attendees. The Chief Guest, Ambassador G. Parthasarathy, visited the exhibition and expressed his appreciation for the intricate and valuable artwork on display.
In the lead-up to the exhibition, a Poster Making Competition was held, focusing on Tribal Freedom Fighters, their socio-economic contributions, values, traditions, and their role in India’s freedom struggle. The winning posters were displayed at the exhibition, with participants offering detailed descriptions of their work to the Chief Guest. Additionally, printed pictures depicting the history and struggles of Tribal Freedom Fighters were showcased, offering visitors a deeper understanding of their contributions. The event was organized by the Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof. Ritu Bakshi, and the Fine Arts Club Convenor, Dr. Anuradha Choudhary, Assistant Professor, NSS, CU Jammu.
