JAMMU: The Department of Economics, Central University of Jammu, successfully organized its Alumni Meet 2024, with a theme “Reunite and Rekindle” bringing together distinguished alumni, faculty members, and current students in a vibrant celebration of academic and professional achievements. This event marked a significant milestone, achieved through the vision and leadership of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain.
Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Central University of Jammu inaugurated the meet. Expressing his appreciation for the achievements and the continued association of the alumni with the university, he projected a changed landscape of the university with greater involvement and contribution of the alumni. His remarks underscored the role of alumni in enhancing the institution’s reputation and expanding its influence.
Prof. Aswini Kumar Nanda, Head, Department of Economics, warmly welcomed the alumni and highlighted the significance of their involvement. He stated, “The alumni are not just the torchbearers of our legacy but also invaluable contributors to our future aspirations.” He encouraged alumni to remain connected with their alma mater and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Students Welfare, also addressed the gathering and emphasized the enduring bond between the alumni and the university. She remarked, “Your connection with your alma mater is a source of strength and pride, and your contributions can inspire and guide the next generation of students.”
The “Connecting with Alumni” session, led by faculty members Dr. Shaveta Kohli. Dr. Susanta Nag, Ms. Preeti Gupta and Mr. Anil Kumar Bharti, allowed for meaningful interactions and reflections on shared experiences. A special “Alumni Open Mic” session gave alumni the opportunity to share their personal journeys, professional accomplishments, and fond memories of their time at the university. These heartfelt stories rekindled nostalgia and inspired current students.
The cultural program, organized by students of The Economic Society, added vibrancy to the event with captivating performances by Ms. Sakshi, Ms. Gourav, Mr. Deepak, Mr. Gangu Ganesh, and Ms. Sonakshi. Their diverse and talented performances showcased the creativity and spirit of the student body. To express gratitude and honour the alumni's continued connection with the department, mementos were presented to all attending alumni. This gesture symbolized the department's appreciation for their contributions and ongoing support.
The Alumni Meet was seamlessly coordinated by Mr. Anil Kumar Bharti, whose dedication ensured the event’s success. Dr. Anooj Bhadu concluded the gathering with a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the alumni for their enthusiastic participation and to the faculty and staff for their unwavering support. The Alumni meet provided an opportunity for attendees to share their professional journeys, mentor current students, and explore collaborative initiatives. It was a memorable occasion that strengthened the bond between the alumni and their alma mater, paving the way for a more engaged and dynamic alumni network.
