KULGAM: To evaluate the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam today reviewed the status of implementation of Jal Jaavan Mission in the district. During the meeting, the DC reviewed both the physical and financial progress of the works being executed under JJM in the district.
A detailed presentation revealed that 55624 households have been provided with water connections till date, working towards the set target of 61,138 households. It was also disclosed that under JJM, the district has a total of 143 schemes encompassing 220 works, with several works already completed.
Discussions also focused on measures for water quality monitoring and the surveillance system. Chair was informed that Kulgam district is equipped with three testing laboratories where drinking water quality tests are being conducted. Emphasizing the importance of JJM as a flagship program aimed at covering all households, officers were instructed to work in coordination to ensure the smooth execution of JJM works in their respective areas by the DC.
Various issues and bottlenecks impeding the speedy completion of few projects were comprehensively discussed during the meeting. The DC instructed the concerned contractors to complete the works particularly those nearing completion, on top priority. He further directed that penalties be imposed in case the said works are not completed at an earliest.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer Hydraulic circle Anantnag/Kulgam, Chief Planning officer Kulgam, Project Manager DPMU Kulgam, Executive Engineers of Kulgam and Qazigund along with AEE's, AE's and contractors of JJM works.
