KISHTWAR: Eight people, including a policeman and five children, lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Sinthan-Kokernag route in Anantnag District. Former Minister and Vice President of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, expressed his heartfelt condolences and highlighted the urgent need to address the rising number of road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir.
The victims were traveling from Kishtwar via Sinthan Top towards Marwah in a Maruti Swift car bearing number JK03H-9017 when they met with the fatal accident. The details of the family members who perished in this tragic incident are as follows:1. Imtiyaz Rather s/o Ghulam Rasool Rather, R/o Marwah Kishtwar, age 45, 2. Afroza Begum w/o Imtiyaz Ahmad Rather, r/o Marwah Kishtawar, age 40, 3. Reshma w/o Majid Ahmad, age 40, 4. Areeba Imtiyaz D/o Imtiyaz Ahmad, age 12, 5. Aniya Jan D/o Imtiyaz Ahmad, age 10, 6. Abaan Imtiyaz S/o Imtiyaz, age 6, 7. Musaib Majid s/o Majid Ahmad, age 16, & 8. Mushail Majid s/o Majid Ahmad, age 8.
Ghulam Mohammad Saroori stated, "I am deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic road accident that occurred on the Sinthan-Kokernag route. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims, including a brave policeman, five innocent children, and two women, who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident near Arashan Daksum. The entire community is mourning this immense loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families during this incredibly difficult time.
This devastating accident highlights the urgent need to address the rising number of road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir. It is alarming to witness such incidents becoming more frequent, claiming precious lives and causing irreparable damage to families. The authorities must take immediate and comprehensive measures to enhance road safety and ensure that our roads are secure for all travelers.
Saroori says âI urge the government to conduct a thorough investigation into this accident to determine its cause and take corrective actions to prevent similar incidents in the future. There is a pressing need to improve the condition of our roads, enforce traffic regulations strictly, and create awareness among the public about road safety.â
âFurthermore, I call upon the concerned departments to provide immediate assistance and compensation to the families of the victims. It is imperative that we support them in every possible way as they cope with their loss and grief.â He said.
