KULGAM: The birth anniversary of the first Home Minister of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was today celebrated with great enthusiasm across Kulgam as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas). To mark the occasion, a ‘Run for Unity’ was organised, which commenced from the Mini Secretariat and culminated at District Police Lines (DPL) Kulgam.
The run was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam Athar Aamir Khan along with SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Choudhary. A pledge-taking ceremony was also held in the lawns of the Mini Secretariat, where the DC administered the oath to officers, officials and participants of their collective commitment to preserve the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.
On the occasion the monumental role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in unifying the nation and promoting national integration was highlighted. His tireless efforts in building a strong and united India, and his lifelong dedication to the service of the nation was recalled. Pledge-taking ceremonies were also organised in various government offices, educational institutions, and schools, Police station and other places across the district, where officers, employees, students, and local citizens participated with great zeal.
The participants took the pledge in the spirit of unification and national solidarity inspired by the vision and actions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and resolved to contribute towards ensuring the internal security and unity of the country.
