ANANTNAG: Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), commemorated as the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was observed today across district Anantnag with multiple functions and activities held to honour his legacy and contribution for the country. This year marked his 150th birth anniversary and many events are being organised as a symbol of respect for the "Iron Man of India".
The main function was held at Town Hall Anantnag which was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner (DC), S.F Hamid and attended by CEO PDA, ADC, GM DIC, ACR, DySP, Exens of various engineering wings, district and sectoral officers, officials, civil society members and local public.
On the occasion, the DC administered Unity Pledge to the participants and paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his glorious vision and contribution in unification of the nation. He emphasized that Rashtriya Ekta Diwas reminds us that strength lies in unity and the government functionaries and citizens can equally contribute in nation building.
Urging officers to work with commitment and sincerity, Hamid said that proper implementation of developmental initiatives and public welfare schemes has a meaningful impact in development of society and country at large. During the program, documentaries showcasing the life and vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel were screened, reflecting his role in building a united India.
The celebration concluded with a renewed resolve among all participants to uphold the ideals of peace, unity, and collective progress. Earlier, a Run for Unity was organized at District Headquarters which witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers of civil and police administration, students, officials, and citizens, spreading the message of unity and harmony.
