KUPWARA: The Vice Chairperson, District Development Council, Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmed Mir on Friday inaugurated macadamization on the much awaited ‘Gungbugh to Chandigam–Diver’ road under PMGSY Batch-3rd. Executive Engineer PMGSY, AEE and other engineers were present on the occasion.
Upgradation and maintenance of Gungbugh to Chandigam-Diver road project approved under (batch 3rd) with a tender cost of Rs.28 crore will get 30 ft wide road and madadmisation of up to 23 ft width with drainage and lighting facilities, which will provide benefit to the thousands of residents of the area.
This important road project marks a pivotal step towards the area's holistic development which signifies the district administration’s commitment in transforming the district's infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and boosting tourism in the area. Upgradation and maintenance of this vital road project will spur economic activity, reduce travel time, and improve accessibility to remote areas of Lolab.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chairman, thanked LG Administration, and District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan. He said the administration will continue to work towards improving the living standards and quality of life of the people in the district.
The Vice Chairman along with other officers also inspected the ongoing work on the road project and interacted with the locals. He expressed his hope that the improved road connectivity will bring more economic opportunities and development to the area and urged the residents to take full advantage of the macadamised and upgraded road.
The area witnessed jubilations as the locals were desperately waiting for the upgradation and macadamisation of this vital road project which will cover most parts of Lolab valley.
