JAMMU: J&K BJP Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his repeated foreign visits, condemning the Congress party of maintaining a culture of opacity, double standards, and politics that repeatedly worked against India’s development and national interests. Dr. Pardeep said that Rahul Gandhi has remained in elected public office for nearly 22 years and public records indicate that he has undertaken dozens of foreign trips during this period, including several visits during sensitive political and parliamentary situations.
“People of India have every right to ask who funds these expensive foreign trips and why Congress repeatedly avoids transparency regarding Rahul Gandhi’s overseas engagements. Congress leaders lecture the nation on accountability, but become uncomfortable when questions are raised about their own leadership,” he said.
Referring to publicly circulated reports and comparative expenditure estimates regarding Rahul Gandhi’s 2015 South-East Asia tour covering Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia, Dr. Pardeep said that the projected expenditure of such visits appeared disproportionately high when compared with the income disclosures available in the public domain for that period.
“It is being widely discussed that one foreign tour allegedly cost several times more than the annual declared income reflected during that financial year. Congress must clarify whether these visits were privately funded, party-sponsored, or backed by undisclosed channels. Silence only deepens public suspicion,” Dr. Pardeep said and added that even common citizens, government officials, and public representatives are expected to follow disclosure norms and maintain transparency in financial and foreign engagements.
Dr. Pardeep Mahotra rued that Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly made remarks on foreign soil that damage India’s democratic image and provide ammunition to forces hostile to the nation. “Instead of strengthening India’s institutions, Congress leaders continuously target the Election Commission, judiciary, Parliament, and investigative agencies whenever political outcomes do not suit them. This politics of negativity and manufactured victimhood has become Congress’ identity,” Dr. Pardeep stated.
Demanding greater public accountability, Dr. Pardeep said Congress must disclose complete details of Rahul Gandhi’s foreign visits, funding sources, accompanying delegations, and official engagements undertaken during such overseas tours. “The people of India deserve transparency from those occupying high public office. Congress cannot selectively preach ethics while avoiding legitimate public scrutiny,” Dr. Pardeep added.
