JAMMU: In line with the visionary initiative of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu to bring cultural events closer to students, the Display Your Talent 2024 - Tawi Zone hosted by MIER College of Education (Autonomous) was inaugurated today. Organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, this three-day cultural event celebrates student creativity across 27 competitions, including music, dance, literary arts, fine arts, and theater.
In the inaugural event, Prof. Monika Chadha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, University of Jammu, was the Chief Guest, and Prof. Sarika Manhas, Co-Chairperson, as the Special Guest. Key dignitaries in attendance included Dr. Pritam Singh, Associate Dean (Students Welfare); Dr. Harleen Kaur, Assistant Dean (Students Welfare); Dr. A.R. Manhas, Deputy Chief Proctor; Dr. Ankit Mahajan, Sumeet Sharma, Drama Instructor JU; Dr. Renu Gupta, Chairperson, MIER Group of Institutions; Prof. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal, MIER College; and Prof. Mool Raj, Controller of Examinations, MIER College, alongside department heads, faculty, and participating students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Adit Gupta expressed his gratitude to the University for giving MIER College the opportunity to host 'Display Your Talent - Tawi Zone.' He highlighted the participation of over 300 students from various affiliated colleges and thanked the University for creating an inclusive platform to celebrate the vibrant talent in the region.
Prof. Monika Chadha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, University of Jammu, in her presidential remarks apprised the audience about the brief history of ‘Display Your Talent’ and talked about the new format of the Display Your Talent event, which is divided across five zones of Jammu Province: Pir Panjal Zone (Rajouri-Poonch), Tawi Zone (Jammu), Chenab Zone (Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban), Devika Zone (Udhampur and Reasi), and Ravi Zone (Kathua and Samba). Prof. Chadha encouraged students to participate with enthusiasm and give their best.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Sarika Manhas, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, emphasised the Vice Chancellor's mission of bringing the competition to the students rather than the other way around. She asked the participants to take part in different competitions with sportsmanship and show their best. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Nishta Rana, Head, School of Education, MIER College of Education.
The first day of Display Your Talent - Tawi Zone saw students compete in Group Song (Indian), Light Vocal (Solo), Classical Vocal (Solo), Collage, Cartooning, Poster Making, Photography, and Installation. Esteemed judges included Dr. Seema Sharma and Dr. Nishtha Sharma for music, and Mr. Raju Kerni, Mr. Mukesh Gupta, Mr. Manoj Chopra, Mr. Chander Shekhar, and Mr. Vikas Dogra for fine arts.

Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, and overseen by Prof. Monika Chadha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee and Prof. Sarika Manhas, Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, with collaboration from the rectors and principals of the host institutions.
