JAMMU: The Department of National Security Studies, Central University of Jammu under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, organized a round table discussion focusing on the contemporary security paradigms of the India-Pakistan border. This initiative, which highlights the university’s burgeoning influence in the national security domain, featured prominent personalities.

The event was graced with the presence of Prof. Sanjeev Jain (Hon’ble Vice Chancellor), Sh. Murlidhar Ji (All India Convenor, Seema Jagran Manch, New Delhi), Shri Nimb Singh Ji (All India Co-Convenor, Seema Jagran Manch, New Delhi) and Shri Manoj ji (Convenor, Bharat-Pakistan Seema Rajya SamparakParmukh, Pathankot). The session was formally moderated by Prof. Asit Mantry, Head of the Department of Educational Studies, and saw active participation from faculty members and research scholars across various academic disciplines.

The deliberations encompassed a broad spectrum of security challenges, ranging from the complexities of cross-border infiltration to the profound implications for human security arising from shifting demographic patterns in frontier border regions. Faculty members offered nuanced perspectives on the operational role and challenges of Village Defence Guards and the persistent tactical difficulties presented by the region’s rugged terrain.

A significant portion of the discussion was dedicated to the technological dichotomy in border management, assessing how modern surveillance tools offer both strategic advantages for Indian security forces and new vulnerabilities when exploited by adversaries. Complementing these insights, research scholars presented evidence-based concerns regarding the infiltration of narcotics and terrorist elements, mapping the sophisticated methods used to breach Indian Territory.

In his address, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain emphasized that such rigorous academic discourses are vital for formulating proactive defence strategies, praising the department's unwavering commitment to security research and commending the scholars for bringing evidence-based insights to frontline border security issues.

This discussion underscored the Central University of Jammu’s vision to serve as a pivotal intellectual hub for national defence and strategic policy formulation. By facilitating a rigorous exchange between experts and emerging scholars, the institution aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and frontline security applications. The proceedings reached a formal conclusion with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Neeta Rani, Head, Department of National Security Studies, who reaffirmed the university's commitment to hosting high-level discourses that contribute to the integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
