JAMMU: A grand gathering of walkers, fitness enthusiasts, youth, women, children, and senior citizens came together this morning at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, Jammu, for a meaningful “Walk for a Cause” along with the grand launch of the Dogri animated awareness video “Nasha Ni Karna”, written and composed by Heena Mahajan (Jammu Di Chidi).
The impactful event was organised by Kanval International Rehabilitation Foundation (KIRF – J&K) under the pledge of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, with the support of J&K Tourism Department and Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from people of all age groups who joined the 5 KM walkathon to spread the message of a healthy, fit, and drug-free Jammu & Kashmir. The event was graced by esteemed guests including Anissa Nabi, renowned fitness icon, athlete, and Fit India Ambassador, who actively participated in the walk and motivated the crowd towards adopting fitness and healthy living as a way of life.
Another distinguished guest, Aijaz Qaiser, JKAS, Joint Director Tourism Jammu, also joined the initiative and appreciated the efforts being made to engage society, especially the youth, through meaningful awareness campaigns and community participation.
A major highlight of the event was the official launch of the animated Dogri video “Nasha Ni Karna”, which was screened live during the programme and simultaneously released on the YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook platforms of Jammu Di Chidi and KIRF. The beautifully animated and emotionally powerful video delivered a strong anti-drug message through the richness of Dogri language, music, creativity, and cultural storytelling.
The atmosphere at the venue turned energetic and heartwarming as not only children and youth, but elders too enthusiastically danced and moved to the tunes of “Nasha Ni Karna.” The crowd connected deeply with the song’s message, making the event a vibrant blend of awareness, fitness, fun, culture, and social responsibility. Such initiatives are rare in the city where people experience the perfect combination of a walkathon for a cause, entertainment, and creative awareness through animation and music.
Guests and participants highly applauded the continuous efforts of KIRF for organising impactful programmes focused on creating awareness against substance abuse. They appreciated how such initiatives make it important for today’s youth to focus on the powerful message of saying no to drugs and choosing a healthier lifestyle instead.
Special appreciation was also extended to Heena Mahajan, Writer, Poet, and Founder of Jammu Di Chidi, for using poetry, creativity, and meaningful content to positively influence youngsters and inspire them to stay away from substance abuse. The guests acknowledged that inspiring videos, regional language storytelling, and socially driven artistic expression can play a significant role in guiding youth towards positivity and cultural values.

The organisers reiterated their commitment to continue organising such meaningful public awareness programmes that encourage fitness, cultural engagement, and a drug-free society.
