SRINAGAR:  Tithwal Day was celebrated with immense patriotic fervour and community participation on 23 May 2026 in the historic region of Tangdhar–Karnah, alongside an extensive campaign under the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan. The commemorative events honoured the rich military legacy of the region, paid homage to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation and reinforced the collective resolve of the populace against the menace of drug abuse and narcotics smuggling.

The celebrations commenced with the Tithwal Day Marathon, organised separately for men and women, which witnessed enthusiastic participation by over 300 men and 50 women from across the region. The marathon was flagged off from Chamkote and culminated at the Tithwal War Memorial.

Upon culmination of the marathon, a solemn wreath laying ceremony was conducted at the War Memorial. Rich tributes were paid to the gallant soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty, inspiring present and future generations.

In addition, a grand cultural soirée celebrating the glorious defence legacy and vibrant cultural tapestry of Tithwal and Tangdhar was organised at Azmat-e-Hind, Tithwal. The event witnessed participation by over 500 civilians, including a large number of school children, youth and local residents.                

On the occasion, the assembled gathering collectively took a pledge to support and strengthen the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan and work in unison towards building a healthy, progressive and drug-free society.

The celebrations concluded on a note of unity, patriotism and renewed commitment towards preserving the proud legacy of Karnah while collectively shaping a secure, prosperous and progressive future for the region.
