JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party takes strong exception to the recent statements made by J&K PCC Chief  Tariq Hameed Karra for his unfounded and frivilous allegation against the Centre of adopting a "biased approach" towards JKUT and his mischevious camparision with   Ladakh, stated Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu, Spokesperson, J&K BJP.

Dr Hari Dutt said that the Government of India has consistently maintained that statehood will be restored to Jammu & Kashmir at an appropriate time, after due assessment of the security and administrative situation. This commitment has been reiterated by the Prime Minister and Home Minister in Parliament and on public platforms. To suggest otherwise is to ignore official statements and parliamentary records.

The people of J&K have witnessed decades of instability and cross-border terrorism. The Central Government’s priority has been to ensure lasting peace, strengthen democratic institutions at the grassroots through Panchayati Raj and Urban Local Bodies, and create an environment where statehood can function effectively. Acting prematurely for political optics would undermine these gains, he said.

Dr. Hari Dutt said, “It is ironic that the Congress Party, which governed J&K for decades, failed to address corruption, dynastic politics, and administrative paralysis. Instead of taking responsibility, PCC Chief Karra is now attempting to deflect attention by making unfounded allegations against the Centre. The people of J&K remember the legacy of neglect and misgovernance under successive Congress-NC governments”.

While the Congress indulges in blame politics, the Centre has focused on delivery - unprecedented road and tunnel connectivity, investment in education and health, direct benefit transfers, and empowerment of Panchayats. The focus of all stakeholders should be on ensuring that these developmental gains reach the last person, not on creating unnecessary controversy.

Dr. Hari Dutt Shishu further said that “Karra’s statement is a deliberate attempt to create confusion and mistrust among the people. The BJP asked the Congress leadership to act responsibly. Statehood restoration is a sensitive issue tied to national security and public welfare. It cannot and should not be reduced to a tool for political rhetoric.”

He further added that the BJP remains committed to the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and will continue to work for peace, development, and full democratic empowerment.

Dr. Shishu further said, “The so-called agitation by the Congress has been turned into a big failure. Their leaders have been badly exposed for not getting mass support. Congress is looking for a breathing space but has been badly choked with the pollution caused by its immature and dynastic politics.”
