KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University successfully organized Student Design Show 2026 in the Matrika Auditorium. The exhibition showcased innovative and creative design projects developed by students of the B.Design programme, reflecting their skills in design thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and product innovation.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, who appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to continue pursuing innovation and excellence in the field of design. Renowned artist from Jammu, Mr. K. K. Gandhi attended the event as the Chief Jury and interacted with the students during the evaluation process.
The jury panel also included Dr. Sanjay Mohan(CEO, TBIC), Ar. Vinod Kumar (Assistant prof., School of Arch. SMVDU), and Prof. Baijnath Koushik (School of Computer Science, SMVDU), who appreciated the originality, creativity, and practical relevance of the projects displayed by the students. Among other dignitaries present on the occasion was Prof. Asok De, Dr. Rashi Taggar (Dy. CEO TBIC SMVDU).Coordinator of Bachelor of Design, Prof. Ankush Anand briefed the dignitaries about the design Show and the motive behind organizing the show.
Faculty members from the Bachelor of Design Program Mr. Abhinav Behl (Assistant Professor) was also appreciated for playing an important role in mentoring students and organizing the exhibition. The dedicated efforts of Mr. Abhinav Behl in successfully coordinating various aspects of the event were especially appreciated by the organizing team and participants. On behalf of the organizing team , Dr. Mir Irfan Ul Haq thanked all the dignitaries for their valuable time and presence. Pertinently, SMVDU is among the few universities in the region offering a Bachelor of Design programme.'
Following the conclusion of the exhibition, Mr. K. K. Gandhi also conducted a live painting session, which attracted enthusiastic participation and appreciation from students and faculty members alike. The live demonstration added a unique artistic dimension to the event and inspired students to explore creative expression beyond conventional design boundaries.
The exhibition featured a diverse range of projects across multiple themes, highlighting user-centered design approaches and innovative solutions to real-world challenges. Faculty members, students, and visitors appreciated the creativity and dedication reflected in the exhibits.
