JAMMU: The P.G. Department of Commerce, University of Jammu inaugurated a two-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on the theme “Stress Management for Hospitality Sector” in collaboration with Anutham Hotel and Resorts today.

The programme was organized under the patronage of Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai, reaffirming the University’s commitment towards fostering entrepreneurship and industry-relevant skills among students and professionals.

Head, Department of Commerce, Prof. Jeevan Jyoti highlighted that the MDP aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices by equipping participants with essential tools for professional growth and development.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and hotel professionals. Ms. Lilly Bhan, Soft Skills Trainer and Management Head associated with Brainpreneurs-CDC, Ms. Pallavi Mahajan, HR and Marketing Program Manager and Social Media Marketing Head, Brainpreneurs-CDC, and Dr. Pallavi Sachdeva, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, were the keynote speakers during the inaugural session.

The session commenced with the formal welcome of dignitaries and participants. Keeping in view the present market scenario, the MDP emphasized the need to create awareness regarding workplace stress, emotional well-being, work-life balance, and effective coping strategies, particularly in the hospitality and service sectors.

The resource persons highlighted the growing importance of stress management in enhancing employee productivity, organizational commitment, and mental wellness. Various aspects including self-awareness and stress assessment, management of anxiety and racing thoughts, building emotional resilience, self-compassion, mindfulness for stress reduction, emotional intelligence, and positive workplace culture were deliberated upon during the technical sessions.

Interactive discussions, practical examples, and experience-sharing sessions made the programme highly engaging and informative for the participants. The inaugural session concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. Harleen Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, who emphasized the importance of adopting healthy coping mechanisms and maintaining psychological resilience in professional life.

The proceedings of the first day concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. The entire programme was coordinated by Dr. Rupa Mahajan, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu.
