YOL, HIMACHAL PRADESH: On the 42nd day of the ongoing 78-day Yajna of the four Vedas at Ved Mandir, Yol, Swami Ram Swarup Ji, Yogacharya, explained the essence of Yajurveda Mantra 1/2 to devotees and described Yajna Karma as the supreme deed of the world.
“Yajna is the deed that benefits all creation and leads one to the Supreme Lord. It showers all happiness and is highly praiseworthy,” Swami Ram Swarup said. He noted that in the mantra, God instructs: “O learned ones and Yajmans! Never abandon this Yajna Karma that sustains the world and grants supreme happiness.” By following this divine command, he said, we can attain true happiness in life.
Explaining the science of Agnihotra, he said that when fragrant, nutritious, germicidal, and sweet substances are offered with Vedic mantras into the blazing fire of the Havan Kund, they transform into a very subtle form. These particles stabilize in the air and sunrays, spread across the universe, purify the atmosphere, and cause pure rainfall. Such pure rain gives us pure water, which in turn yields pure crops, grains, and fruits. Consuming them makes our children pure in intellect and strong in body, thereby strengthening the nation.
Swami Ram Swarup added that this sacred teaching was also given by Lord Shri Krishna in Bhagavad Gita, Shloka 3/14. “Bhagwan Shri Krishna and Shri Ram performed Yajna/Agnihotra throughout their lives and, walking the path of the Vedas, nourished and sustained the entire earth,” he said.
He expressed concern that in the present age, people are distressed because they do not adopt these ideals in life. Referring again to Yajurveda 1/2, he said the mantra declares that Yajna sustains all happiness, upholds the world, brings joy to all beings, and destroys diseases. “It is by abandoning such a great and auspicious Yajna that people are suffering. Yet the public does not realize that their misery is due to not performing Yajna, because in the current age hardly anyone listens to the Vedas,” Swami Ram Swarup concluded.
