UDHAMPUR: A theme-based Mushaira under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign was organized today by the District Administration Udhampur here at Bhartiya College of Education. The initiative aimed to spread awareness against drug abuse and encourage youth towards a healthy and positive lifestyle. Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa was the chief guest on the occasion, while Superintendent of Police Amritpaul Singh was the guest of honor at the inaugural session of the programme

Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the importance of collective social responsibility in eliminating the menace of drugs from society.  “The fight against substance abuse requires active participation from educational institutions, youth, parents and civil society,” the DC emphasized and urged students to become ambassadors of the anti-drug campaign and motivate others to stay away from drugs.

Earlier, the Chairman of Bhartiya College of Education accorded a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and other guests. He appreciated the initiative of the District Administration in organizing awareness programmes through literary and cultural mediums.

The Mushaira witnessed enthusiastic participation from renowned as well as budding poets of different colleges of the district. They presented thought-provoking poetry and literary works centered on the theme ‘Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.’ Through their powerful verses, the poets conveyed a strong message against drug abuse and inspired the audience to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

Students, faculty members and guests attended the programme in large numbers and appreciated the initiative taken by the District Administration Udhampur in creating awareness through literary and cultural platforms.

DIG Udhampur Reasi Range Shiv Kumar Sharma joined the concluding session and delivered an inspiring speech. He acknowledged that such programmes play a vital role in creating awareness among youth and society against the ill effects of drug abuse. He stressed the need for greater investment in sports and constructive youth activities to defeat the menace of drugs from society. He hailed multiple efforts of the administration to promote the goal of a drug-free society through “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” across the district.

Among others present at the programme included Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh, Additional SP Sandeep Bhat, Chairperson Bharatiya Group of Colleges Madhu Khajuria, Managing Director Ashok Khajuria, Director Shiv Kumar Sharma, renowned and budding poets, students and staff attended the programme.
