REASI: District Development Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek chaired a meeting to review measures for strengthening waste management mechanisms and formulation of the District Sanitation Plan.

Detailed discussions were held on door-to-door waste collection mechanisms, asset management and utilisation, collection of user charges, categorisation of Gram Panchayats, rural-urban convergence, institutional engagement and resource mobilisation for preparation of the sanitation plan.

The DDC directed the Block Development Officers to prepare individual action plans for effective door-to-door collection of waste from households, shops and other commercial establishments in their respective areas. He also stressed the need for creating public awareness regarding segregation of dry and wet waste at source to ensure efficient waste management.

He further directed the Executive Officers of Municipal Committees to implement effective sanitation measures and ensure proper waste collection and management in their respective jurisdictions. He also instructed the Assistant Commissioner Development to ensure that all existing Material Recovery Facilities are made fully functional for proper processing and management of waste.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Krishan Lal, Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Development Mukesh Sharma, Block Development Officers and other concerned officers.
