ANANTNAG: In its continued drive against illegal mining and activities causing environmental degradation, J&K Police carried out separate enforcement actions in the jurisdictions of Aishmuqam and Janglatmandi, leading to the seizure of five vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of mining material.

In the first operation, a police party from Police Station Aishmuqam during naka checking at Rangkadal, Aishmuqam intercepted one tractor found carrying illegally extracted boulders. The vehicle was seized on the spot and a case under relevant provisions of law has been registered for further investigation. In another operation, a police party from Police Post Janglatmandi during night patrolling at Mominabad intercepted four tractors moving without registration number plates.

Upon inspection, all the vehicles were found loaded with mining material. When questioned, the drivers failed to produce any valid documents or lawful authorization for transportation of the material. Accordingly, all four tractors were seized on the spot and cognizance of the matter has been taken as per law.

J&K Police remains committed towards strict enforcement against illegal mining and other activities harming the environment, and warns violators of firm legal action. Citizens are urged to share information regarding such unlawful activities to help protect natural resources and ecological balance.
