BANDIPORA: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, along with Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora, Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to finalize arrangements for the smooth celebration of Eid-ul-Azha across the district. During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held regarding arrangements for Eid prayer, sanitation, drinking water supply, electricity, traffic regulation and availability of Poultry.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply during the festival days, particularly in areas where large congregational Eid prayers are scheduled to be held. The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned departments to ensure proper regulation of sacrificial animal markets during Eid-ul-Azha and stressed upon strict enforcement against unhygienic disposal of animal waste to prevent pollution and maintain cleanliness.

She instructed the District Sheep Husbandry Officer and concerned enforcement teams to ensure fixation and display of rates of sacrificial animals for the convenience of the public and to keep a close check on overpricing and unfair market practices. The DC further emphasized adherence to sanitation norms at slaughter sites and directed Municipal Committees to ensure timely collection and scientific disposal of waste generated during the festival.

The DC stressed upon Municipal Committees to intensify sanitation drives around mosques, Eidgahs and marketplaces and also directed the departments concerned to conduct awareness campaigns regarding sanitation and proper waste disposal during Eid celebrations. The Traders Association Bandipora appreciated the Municipal Committees for their sanitation efforts in the district.

While reviewing traffic management measures, the Deputy Commissioner directed Traffic Police to ensure smooth vehicular movement and strictly regulate roadside parking in busy market areas and around Eidgahs to avoid congestion. The District Sheep Husbandry Officer Bandipira was directed to make proper announcements regarding designated sale centres for sacrificial animals to facilitate the general public. The meeting also discussed arrangements related to poultry supply and market regulation during the festive period.

The Deputy Commissioner further directed the Executive Officer Municipal Committee to submit proposals for construction of bathrooms at Eidgahs to improve public convenience during major congregations. Fire and Emergency Services and Health Department were directed to remain fully prepared and ensure availability of emergency response mechanisms during the Eid festivities.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure that people celebrate Eid-ul-Azha in a peaceful, hygienic and hassle-free atmosphere. Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats Bandipora, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Bandipora, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Bandipora, Assistant Director FCS&CA Bandipora, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Bandipora, Assistant Director F&E&S Bandipora, District Information Officer Bandipora, Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner/Designated Officer Food Safety & Standards Bandipora, Chief Executive Officer Municipal Council Bandipora, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Bandipora, Administrative Officer Waqf Board Bandipora and representatives of Traders Federations Bandipora and Sumbal/Hajin.

Sub Divisional Magistrates of Gurez and Sumbal, Block Medical Officers, Block Development Officers, Executive Officers of Municipal Committees Hajin and Sumbal, Food Safety Officers, Naib Tehsildars, Station House Officers, , Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti, KPDCL and R&B departments, and Tehsildars attended the meeting through virtual mode.
