RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today highlighted the significance of the Self Enumeration process under Census 2027, public participation and the role of stakeholders in ensuring successful implementation of the initiative in the district. He was speaking at a press conference held in his office chamber.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that the Self Enumeration process, started on May 17, shall remain open till May 31, 2026. He urged the public to actively participate in the exercise by providing accurate and authentic information through the online platform. He emphasized that the details submitted by the citizens would be physically cross checked and verified by enumerators during field visits to ensure accuracy and transparency in the census process.
He said that the Government has introduced several digital tools and multilingual support facilities to make the process citizen friendly and accessible. The Self Enumeration Portal allows residents to independently submit household details before the enumerator’s visit, thereby reducing paperwork and streamlining data collection.
Stressing the importance of mass awareness, the Deputy Commissioner also informed that all Tehsil Offices, Municipal Committees officers and concerned officers have been directed to ensure extensive awareness campaigns to ensure maximum public participation in the district.
He appealed to citizens from all sections of society to cooperate with the administration and contribute towards the successful conduct of Census 2027, which will play a vital role in future development planning, welfare delivery and policy formulation. Among others, District Statistical and Evaluation Officer Sandeep Sharma was also present during the press conference.
