REASI: District Development Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress achieved under the Jal Jeevan Mission and the District Water and Sanitation Mission in the district.
At the outset, the Jal Shakti Department officials presented a detailed overview of the implementation status of the water supply schemes, Functional Household Tap Connections, progress of civil, mechanical and electrical works, water quality testing and Jal Seva Aankalan activities across the district.
The meeting was informed that a substantial number of rural households in the district have been provided with Functional Household Tap Connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission. It was further apprised that several water supply schemes are presently under execution, with a significant number already completed across the district.
The DDC reviewed division-wise progress of works being executed by Jal Shakti (Public Health Engineering) Division Reasi and Mechanical Irrigation Division Dharmari. He directed the officers to expedite completion of ongoing schemes, particularly in areas where pipe network laying, filtration plants, Ground Service Reservoirs and pump rooms are pending.
Reviewing the status of water testing laboratories, the District Development Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure regular water quality testing before and after the monsoon season to provide safe drinking water to the public.
He also reviewed progress under Jal Seva Aankalan and instructed officers to address gaps identified in various Panchayats on priority. Stressing the need for sustainable and efficient water supply systems, he emphasised preparation of a comprehensive District Service Improvement Plan to strengthen services and ensure sustainability of assets created under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The meeting also reviewed progress of AMRUT 2.0 works being executed in Reasi town. Directions were issued for timely completion of the projects and for improving consumer services and revenue collection mechanisms.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Krishan Lal, Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Development Mukesh Sharma, Executive Engineers of the concerned departments and other concerned officers.
