- Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebration (150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel)
SRINAGAR: As part of the nationwide celebrations commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, J&K Police organised Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge, Parade, Run for Unity and Plantation Drives in Shopian, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Pulwama, Budgam, Kupwara, Sopore & Handwara.
In Shopian, Police organized an impressive Ekta Diwas Parade and Pledge Ceremony at District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian. The event commenced with the Run for Unity, followed by a grand parade and the Rashtriya Ekta Pledge, reaffirming the collective resolve of police personnel towards maintaining national integrity, peace and unity. On the occasion, SSP Shopian, Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, administered the Rashtriya Ekta Pledge to officers, officials and participants. He urged everyone to uphold the values of unity, harmony, and national integration as envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The parade was commanded by Prob. DySP Sh. Surinder Kumar-JKPS, with contingents from JKP, CRPF 14th Battalion, Homeguard and NCC (Degree College Shopian) participating with great enthusiasm. The contingents’ march past showcased remarkable discipline, synchronization and patriotic fervor symbolizing a strong message of solidarity and national cohesion.
In Ganderbal, Police organised a vibrant “Run for Unity” (Mini-Marathon) across the district under the banner of Ekta Diwas celebrations. The main event was organised in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ganderbal where SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, flagged off the “Mini-Marathon” from the Clock Tower Ganderbal, with the finishing point at Gadoora Stadium. The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, youth, media persons, and police personnel—reflecting the true spirit of unity, strength, and national integration. Participants showcased exemplary energy, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the run.
The top three finishers were felicitated with cash prizes and appreciation certificates as a token of encouragement and recognition. Simultaneously, similar “Run for Unity” (Mini-Marathon) were organised by all the Police Stations of the district. PS Kangan: From Kangan to Preng, PS Safapora: From Safapora Chowk to Jharokha-Bagh, PS Kheerbawani: From PS Kheerbawani to Tulmulla, PS Gund: From PS Gund to Haknar, PS Sonamarg: From East Portal Z-Morh Tunnel to PS Sonamarg, PS Lar: From Manigam to PS Lar, PP Shadipora: From Wakura to Kurhama, PP Gutlibagh: From Wayil to Haider Maiden, A huge number of gatherings participated in the "Run For Unity" with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. The event concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the ideals of unity, peace, and integrity, reaffirming the district’s commitment to the spirit of Ekta Diwas.
Moreover, District Police Ganderbal organized a solemn and vibrant function at the playground behind DPO Ganderbal. On this occasion, SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal–JKPS administered the Unity Pledge to all officers and jawans, reaffirming their commitment to the ideals of national integration, unity, and integrity. The event witnessed a ceremonial March Past in which contingents of District Police Ganderbal, JKAP, SSB, CRPF, L/Ct. Battalion, SPO's, Police Band of District Ganderbal and Sainik School Manasbal participated with great zeal and discipline. SSP Ganderbal took the salute of the parade and appreciated the immaculate turnout and coordination of the participating contingents.
Moreover, “Ekta Tree” (Plantation Drive) was held at District Police Office (DPO) Ganderbal, symbolising the growth of unity, peace, and harmony among the citizens. Officers and personnel of Ganderbal Police actively participated by planting saplings within the premises.
In Kulgam, Pledge taking ceremonies were held in all police establishments of district Kulgam where, all the officers/officials of police Kulgam participated and pledged to preserve the unity and Integrity of the Nation and dedicate themselves for the country. The main parade was held at DPL Kulgam where SSP Kulgam Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS took salute at the March past of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade participated by the contingents of District Executive Police, Armed Police, Home guards and SSP Kulgam administered pledge to all the participants. Moreover, a photo exhibition on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and an ekta tree plantation drive were also organised, symbolising collective commitment towards unity, integrity and environmental sustainability.
In Pulwama, the main event was held at District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama, where SSP Pulwama Ms. Tanushree-IPS administered the National Unity Pledge and took salute on the ceremonial parade. The ceremony was attended by senior officers of Police, Crpf and Civil Administration, besides Civilians and students from different institutions. The parade comprised contingents of J&K Police, Armed Police, and Home Guard, who reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.
The ceremony concluded with an impressive march past by the participating contingents. Pledge-taking ceremonies were also organised simultaneously at all Police Sub-units across the district, highlighting the vital role of unity and integrity in ensuring peace and national strength. In addition, Pulwama Police launched an Ekta Tree Plantation Drive (Ekta Vriksh Campaign) across the district, symbolising a collective commitment towards unity, integrity, and environmental.
In Budgam, Police observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) by organizing a ‘Run for Unity’ and ‘Photo Exhibition’ across all Police Stations of District Budgam. The main event, Run for Unity, commenced from Railway Station Budgam to T-Crossing Budgam and witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 300 students and local youth, reflecting high patriotic spirit and discipline.
The run was flagged off by Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, SSP Budgam, in presence of ASP Budgam Shri Sajjad Bukhari-JKPS, DySP Hqrs Budgam Shri Sajad Ahmad-JKPS, DySP DAR Shri Ghulam Mohiuddin, and SHO Budgam. Similar ‘Run for Unity’ and ‘Photo Exhibition’ events were held across all Police Stations and selected schools of District Budgam, where officers interacted with participants and emphasized the values of national integration and communal harmony. Over 1500 students and local youth of these areas participated in Run for Unity, reflecting high patriotic spirit and discipline.
In Kupwara, Police organised a Run for Unity to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and promote the spirit of national integration. The run commenced from Dakbanglow Kupwara and concluded at Regipora Chowk, witnessing enthusiastic participation from police personnel, officials, and civilians. The event was flagged off by SSP Kupwara Shri Al Tahir Gillani, along with Addl SP Kupwara Syed Javed Ahmad, DySP HQ Mubashir Niyaz, DySP PC Shri Shivek Sharma, and DySP DAR Shri Rashid Gulzar .Addressing participants, SSP Kupwara highlighted the importance of unity and collective harmony, lauding the active participation of civilians and police personnel. The event concluded at DPL Kupwara with a pledge reaffirming commitment to unity, integrity, and national togetherness.
In Sopore, the Unity Run was held in all Police Stations of Police District Sopore, witnessing enthusiastic participation from school students, youth, traders, civil society members, and other sections of the public. The event aimed to spread the message of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, unity, and collective strength inspired by the vision of the Iron Man of India. The main event, organised from Railway Crossing Amargarh to Seer Sopore, saw active participation from educational institutions, trade and industrial associations, civil administration, and local residents, alongside police officers and personnel. Following the Unity Run, a parade march, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge, and Plantation Drive were held at District Police Lines (DPL) Sopore.
The plantation drive was led by SSP Sopore along with senior officers and officials, symbolising growth, renewal, and the collective resolve to nurture unity and peace. Similar pledge ceremonies were also organised across all Police Stations, reaffirming the commitment of police personnel and citizens towards honesty, unity, and national service.
In Handwara, the main function was held at District Police Lines (DPL) Handwara, where a large contingent of police personnel participated in the pledge-taking ceremony, reaffirming their commitment towards the unity, integrity, and security of the nation in line with the vision of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel — the Iron Man of India. Pledge-taking ceremonies were also conducted at all Police Sub-units across the district. A ceremonial march past was also held at DPL Handwara. Earlier in the day, Run for Unity events were organised across Police District Handwara, witnessing enthusiastic participation of youth from different areas of the district.
The main event started from Chotipora Handwara and culminated at Environmental Hall Handwara. On this occasion, SSP Handwara, Addl. SP Handwara, SDPO Handwara, DySP DAR Handwara, SHO Handwara, and other officers of the civil and police administration participated in the event and encouraged the participants. Moreover, a Photo Exhibition on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and an Ekta Tree Plantation Drive (Ekta Vriksh Campaign) were also organised, symbolising collective commitment towards unity, integrity, and environmental sustainability. J&K Police reiterated its unwavering commitment to fostering unity, peace and communal harmony in the true spirit of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
