- Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebration (150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel)
ANANTNAG & SHOPIAN: As part of the nationwide celebrations commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, J&K Police organised Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge, Parade, Run for Unity, Photo Exhibitions, Seminars, Blood Donation camps and Plantation Drives in Anantnag & Shopian.
In Anantnag, Police organized a series of events across the district with great zeal and enthusiasm. The main function was held at District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag, where a large contingent of police personnel participated in the pledge-taking ceremony, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to the unity, integrity, and security of the nation — upholding the vision and ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Pledge-taking ceremonies were also conducted simultaneously at all Police Sub-units and Police Stations across the district, reinforcing the message of national unity and collective responsibility in maintaining peace and harmony. A ceremonial march past by contingents of Anantnag Police was also held at DPL Anantnag to mark the occasion.
The event was graced by DIG South Kashmir Range Shri Javid Iqbal Matoo-IPS, SSP Anantnag Shri Amritpal Singh-IPS, Addl. SP Headquarters Shri Kartik Shortriya-IPS, SP Ops Shri Furqan Qadir, and other officers and other police officers. As part of the celebrations, a Photo Exhibition on the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was organized, showcasing his pivotal role in uniting India. In addition, an “Ekta Tree Plantation Drive (Ekta Vriksh Campaign)” was launched across the district, symbolizing collective dedication towards unity, integrity, and environmental sustainability.
In Shopian, Police organises Ekta vriskh compagin at District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian. The drive aimed to symbolize the collective commitment towards unity, environmental preservation and sustainable development. Senior officers, police personnel and participants of the Run for Unity and Ekta Parade actively took part in planting saplings, promoting the message of “Unity with Nature and Nation.” Speaking on the occasion, SSP Shopian, Shri Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, emphasized the importance of environmental responsibility and collective action, stating that just as trees strengthen the ecosystem, unity strengthens the nation.
Moreover, Police organized a seminar at Police Station Keller highlighting his enduring ideals of unity, integrity and national integration. The seminar on “Building Trust between Public and Police” focused on strengthening police-public relations through transparency, empathy and professionalism. Officers interacted with participants and emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining peace and harmony. A large gathering of people from all walks of life, including Lamberdars, Village Guards, members of Traders Federation Keller, Sumo Stand Association Keller, political and social activists and other prominent citizens, participated in the event.
Further, J&K Police organised a Blood Donation Camp at PHC Imamsahib. The event was inaugurated by DySP PC Imamsahib Shri Chander Kant-JKPS, accompanied by SHO PS Imamsahib, who emphasized that donating blood is a noble act and one of the most meaningful ways to honour the legacy of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. During the blood donation camp, SHO PS Imamsahib along with a large number of officers, Jawans from the District Police Shopian donated blood under proper medical supervision, ensuring all safety protocols were followed. J&K Police reiterated its unwavering commitment to fostering unity, peace and communal harmony in the true spirit of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
