J&K Police organizes “Run for Unity” in Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian & Sopore

• Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebration (150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel)

ANANTNAG, PULWAMA, SHOPIAN & SOPORE: As part of the nationwide celebrations commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, J&K Police organized “Run for Unity” in Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian & Sopore.

 In Anantnag, the main event was held from District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag to Wazir Bagh Anantnag, witnessing enthusiastic participation from a large number of people representing various walks of life, including students, youth, police personnel, and civil society members. The event was graced by the presence of DIG South Kashmir Range, Shri Javid Iqbal Matoo-IPS, and SSP Anantnag, Shri Amritpal Singh-IPS, along with other senior officers of District Police Anantnag.

A special race for differently-abled persons was also organized as part of the event, symbolizing inclusivity and unity in diversity. Later, an award ceremony was held at the Sports Stadium Anantnag, where the winners and participants were felicitated for their spirited participation. Similar “Run for Unity” events were conducted by SDPOs and SHOs in their respective jurisdictions, ensuring district-wide participation and celebration of the occasion.

In Shopian, Police today organized a “Run for Unity” from District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian up to Bus Stand Batapora Shopian and back to DPL Shopian. The event was flagged off by SSP Shopian Sh. Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS, who also actively participated in the run along with Addl. SP Shopian, DySP Hqrs Shopian, DySP DAR Shopian and other officers/officials of Shopian Police.

Their participation added spirit and motivation to the event. A large number of participants, including police officers, officials, youth, students of various madrassa and members of civil society, enthusiastically took part in the event with great zeal and patriotic fervour. The Run for Unity symbolized the essence of national integration, unity and collective strength values deeply associated with the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. In addition to the main event at DPL Shopian, “Run for Unity” programmes were also organized at Police Station and Police Posts levels across the district, witnessing active participation of officers, youth, students and local citizens.

In Pulwama, The Unity Run commenced from Shaheed Farooq Chowk and concluded at District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama via Circle Road, symbolising the spirit of unity, fitness, and collective strength. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, youth, sports personalities, and local citizens, who came together to honour the nation’s martyrs and promote the message of harmony and peace. The run was flagged off by SSP Pulwama Ms. Tanushree-IPS, accompanied by senior officers of the district. In her address, the SSP highlighted the invaluable contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in uniting the nation and urged the youth to imbibe his ideals of integrity, discipline, and service.

After the conclusion of the run, participants assembled at DPL Pulwama, where they were served refreshments and to recognise their efforts and encourage participation, cash prizes, certificates, and mementos were awarded to the top performers. Meanwhile, Police Station Rajpora also organised a Run for Unity in its area, witnessing active participation from local youth and students.

In Sopore, The Unity Run was held in all Police Stations of Police District Sopore, witnessing enthusiastic participation from school students, youth, traders, civil society members, and other sections of the public. The event aimed to spread the message of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, unity, and collective strength inspired by the vision of the Iron Man of India. The main event, organised from Railway Crossing Amargarh to Seer Sopore, saw active participation from educational institutions, trade and industrial associations, civil administration, and local residents, alongside police officers and personnel.
