• Emphasizes Strict Hygiene Checks, Safe Food Practices, Promotion of Nutritious Eating Habits

POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on Food and Healthy Diets at the DC Office to review food safety measures and promote healthy dietary practices in the district.

During the meeting, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Tariq Mehmood presented a detailed overview of the activities and achievements of the Food Safety Department. He highlighted numerous initiatives being implemented under programmes such as Eat Right School, Eat Right Campus, Hygiene Rating and other food safety awareness campaigns aimed at ensuring the availability of safe and hygienic food to the public.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of the department and stressed the need for regular inspections of all Food Business Operators (FBOs), especially those dealing with high-risk food categories. He directed the concerned officers to enforce strict adherence to hygiene and food safety standards across the district. The meeting focused on strengthening inter-departmental coordination to promote safe, nutritious and hygienic food while encouraging the public to adopt healthy eating habits.
