UDHAMPUR: To strengthen the ongoing campaign against substance abuse, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today flagged off an Information, Education and Communication Van from the DC Office Complex.
While briefing the media, the Deputy Commissioner informed that the IEC Van shall travel across different blocks and Panchayats of the district to spread awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to promote a drug-free society.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment towards eradicating the menace of drugs, the DC stated that the fight against drug abuse is a continuous process which requires sustained and collective efforts from all sections of society.
He further emphasized that combating drug abuse is a shared responsibility of the administration and the public and urged citizens to actively participate and join hands with the District Administration in making Udhampur a drug-free district.
The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta and other officers. Meanwhile, the Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishaw Vidhayala organised an awareness rally to promote the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
