HANDWARA: Continuing its relentless crackdown against narcotics under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, J&K Police achieved another significant success by detecting and destroying illegal poppy cultivation in village Gund Kurhoo.
Police Station Handwara registered a case vide FIR No. 102/2026 under Section 8/18 NDPS Act against one accused identified as Abdul Rashid Pandit Bhat son of Sona Ullah Pandit resident of Gund Kurhoo for indulging in illegal cultivation of poppy straw. Acting promptly on credible inputs, a police team from Police Post Langate falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara, conducted the operation in coordination with Revenue and Excise officials. During the operation, the illegally cultivated poppy crop was identified and subsequently destroyed on spot after completing all legal formalities and procedures.
The action reflects the firm resolve of Police to eradicate the drug menace from society and dismantle every link connected with narcotics cultivation and trafficking. Police remains committed towards strict enforcement, community participation, and sustained action under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan to safeguard the youth and ensure a drug-free society.
