- Says Earth created for happiness, not suffering, Yajna powerful medium for destruction of sorrows, shower of happiness
YOL (HIMACHAL PRADESH): During the ongoing 78-day Yajna based on all four Vedas at Ved Mandir, Yogacharya Swami Ram Swarup addressed a large gathering of devotees and shared a simple yet powerful message on achieving true happiness. Referring to Rigveda mantra 1/22/15, he said that God created the Earth to give happiness to all living beings. The world, he explained, is meant to be a place where no one suffers—not even from the prick of a thorn. It is home to humans, animals, birds, trees and countless forms of life, and is filled with natural wealth meant for the well-being of all.
However, he expressed concern that in today’s times, people are facing more sorrow than happiness. He explained that this is mainly because people have moved away from Vedic knowledge and have stopped performing good and noble deeds like Yajna. When humans ignore the path of truth and righteousness, they fail to benefit from the blessings that nature offers.
Swami Ram Swarup explained in simple terms that the Vedas teach us to live truthfully, gain knowledge, and follow righteous conduct. Only those who walk on this path truly experience peace and happiness, while nature also supports them with its positive and nurturing qualities. He urged devotees to learn Vedic teachings from knowledgeable scholars and apply them in daily life to bring real joy and harmony.
He further said that while every person wishes to be happy, many do not want to follow the disciplined path shown in the Vedas, which leads to the realization of God and lasting happiness. He concluded by reminding that no one can become truly happy by going against the laws of God, and that true peace comes only by living a life based on truth, knowledge, and good actions.
Yogacharya Swami Ram Swarup Ji emphasized that true happiness cannot be attained without devotion to God and acquiring knowledge from learned scholars. While explaining selected mantras from Rigveda Mandal 1, Sukta 77, he stated that the most noble among human beings are those who seek guidance through the enlightened wisdom of the Vedas and uphold virtues such as protection and righteousness. Such individuals, he said, are worthy of becoming members of noble assemblies and are referred to in the Vedas as scholars, sages, seers, and ascetics.
Swami Ji further explained that human beings should live in the company of virtuous and knowledgeable Vedic scholars, learn Vedic knowledge, and implement it in their lives to attain lasting happiness. He noted that the Vedas clearly state that without the association of learned individuals and worship of God according to Vedic principles, one cannot achieve true wealth or happiness. Wealth acquired without proper knowledge and guidance, he cautioned, ultimately deprives a person of peace and joy. Citing Yajurveda Mantra 18/11, he concluded that pure and beneficial wealth, which brings happiness, can only be attained through Yajna performed in accordance with Vedic teachings.
