SRINAGAR: Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board and Minister of State, Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, today began the mega plantation drive of Waqf Board starting from Shah-e-Hamdan Eidgah in Srinagar.

Officials from the Waqf Board, students of Sultan-ul-Arifin Waqf Higher Secondary School, and prominent local figures participated in this special event. The drive began with Waqf Chairperson planting a tree herself in the historic Eidgah.

This drive has been initiated by the Board to create a greener environment at all Waqf-managed sites and places of spiritual importance. "In this world of acute pollution, we all have the responsibility of creating more green spaces to ensure a healthy environment around us.

Thus, we are beginning this mega drive, which will continue at all important places under the Waqf Board management," said Dr. Darakhshan. She appealed to people to come forward & join this mission to make it a huge success throughout Jammu & Kashmir.

"People's participation is solicited to make it a success. Plantation beautifies the landscape and also creates a pollution-free campus. We need to make plantation a habit in our lives," said Andrabi.
