- Development reflects in its presence, not in fake promises: Anil
JAMMU: Anil Sharma, President of the All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference(AJKPC) and independent candidate from the Nagrota Assembly constituency, continued his campaign trail today by visiting several villages and panchayats including Chilla, Sagon, and Saruinsar. He interacted with youth, women, and senior citizens to understand local employment issues, health challenges, and the lack of basic infrastructure.
Sharma listened to their grievances, also discussed the day-to-day issues faced by the people of these areas, and assured them of their redressal. He emphasized that development must reach the last village and that governance should be about ‘presence’, ‘not promises’.
During his interaction, Sharma said that the residents of these areas have been ignored for years by their former representatives who only appeared during elections and vanished afterwards. “Even today, people here are struggling for clean drinking water, regular electricity and roads. The condition of public services clearly reflects years of neglect,” he said.
Speaking about Saruinsar, Sharma called it one of the most beautiful yet ignored tourist destinations near Jammu. He said it is shameful that despite being only 35 to 40 kilometres from Jammu district headquarters, the area gives the look of a border desert. “Saruinsar should have been developed as a vibrant tourism spot providing jobs to local youth, but it has been left to decay,” he added.
Anil Sharma assured the people that if given the opportunity to serve as their representative , he would work to improve health and education facilities. He promised to establish a Sub-District Hospital at Saruinsar to cater the health and medcial needs of the people of these villages, pointing out that there isn’t even a functioning Primary Health Centre at present. He also said that vacant teacher posts would be filled and the condition of government schools improved.
He further said that he has always raised his voice for electing a local candidate as the true representative of the people. “Parachute candidates who appear from outside just before elections cannot understand the pain or needs of local people,” he remarked.
Rejecting divisive politics, Sharma said his only agenda is development, honesty, and accountability. He reiterated his opposition to prepaid electricity meters, saying that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have the first right over the power generated in their own land.
He appealed to the voters of Nagrota to support his mission for a fair, transparent, and developed future for all. He also urged young voters to participate actively in shaping a responsive and people-centric government.
