KATHUA: Continuing its campaign against drugs, Hiranagar Police, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma (IPS), have arrested a drug smuggler and seized 5.88 grams of drug (heroin-like substance). Police also seized the smuggler's motorcycle from the scene.
On October 28, 2025, a police team from Hiranagar Police Station, led by Inspector Ashish Sharma and under the close supervision of SP Ops Kathua Mukund Tibrewal (IPS) and SDPO Border Dheeraj Katoch, set up a checkpoint in the Hiranagar area to monitor suspicious activities.
During the checkpoint, a man riding a motorcycle (registration number JK08P-6251) was stopped and questioned in suspicious circumstances. He was identified as Ajay Kumar, son of Darshan Lal, resident of Kattal Gujran. During the search, 5.88 grams of a narcotic substance, Chitta, was recovered from him.
In this regard, FIR No. 153/2025 was registered at Hiranagar police station under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act and the accused was arrested on the spot.
