- DC reviews preparations for smooth conduct of the event
KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting of the officers from line departments to review arrangements for the Padyatra being organized on November 1, 2025 to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as part of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations.
The meeting discussed in detail key aspects for smooth conduct of the event including route plan, security arrangements, traffic regulation, sanitation, medical aid, water supply and participation of students and citizens. It was decided in the meeting that the Padyatra would commence from Government Degree College Boys and culminate at Government Degree College Women.
The DC directed all departments to make coordinated efforts for the successful organization of the Padyatra, emphasizing that the event symbolizes the ideals of unity, integrity and national integration championed by Sardar Patel. He called for wide public participation and awareness activities to make the event more impactful.
The Education Department was asked to mobilize participation of students and NSS volunteers, while the Youth Services and Sports Department was directed to facilitate active involvement of youth clubs and sports associations. The Police and Traffic authorities were instructed to ensure foolproof security and seamless traffic movement along the Yatra route.
The DC directed the Municipal Council to ensure cleanliness and sanitation along the route and the Health Department to deploy medical teams and ambulances for emergency support. The Information Department was asked to give adequate media coverage and highlight the message of unity and patriotism associated with the occasion.
Earlier, Nodal Officer from GOI Khushal Gupta Deputy Director (MY Bharat, Kathua) briefed the meeting about the SOPs and protocols for the commemoration events under Sardar@ 150 campaign. Among others, SSP Kathua, ADC Kathua, ACD, CPO, SDM Hiranagar, CEO, CMO, CEO MC Kathua besides officers of Youth Services & Sports and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
