JAMMU: One Week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) entitled as ‘Science and Technology for Sustainable Future’ under the guidance and mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu was successfully concluded in Department of Zoology in collaboration with Madan Mohan Malviya Teacher Training Centre, CU Jammu. The University had a privilege to invite Prof Ashok Kumar Mohanty, Director, CIRC, ICAR, Meerut for Keynote address in which he deliberated on the topic 'Introduction to proteomics and Applications in biomarker Discovery. About four sessions were being conducted per day for consecutive six days and concluded successfully on today. This program aimed to enhance faculty members' expertise by exploring innovative approaches to sustainable practices in science and technology.
Over the six days, the FDP hosted 24 distinguished resource persons, including 2-3 Indian experts who joined from abroad, providing global perspectives and valuable insights on sustainable development. The sessions covered topics ranging from the “Role of proteomics in biomarker discovery, Research & Development in Higher Education Institutions,’ ‘Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Future’, ‘Botanical Tourism’, ‘Patents and copyright’ ‘Sustainable practices and human health’ and ‘Sustainable Healthcare Through Computational Innovations in Drug Discovery and Vaccinology,’ underscoring the importance of computational biology in modern healthcare solutions.
The Valedictory Session, held in the evening, was graced by prominent speakers, including Dr. Neelika Arora (Director, UGC-MMTTC), Dr. Ashok Kumar Yadav (Head, Department of Zoology), Dr. Akshay Kumar, and Dr. Anjali Dhar (Coordinator, FDP). The session began with a warm summary of the week’s activities, during which Dr. Neelika Arora commended the efforts of all stakeholders and praised the program’s success in fostering impactful discussions on sustainable scientific practices. Dr. Ashok Kumar Yadav extended his gratitude to the speakers, particularly those who joined from abroad, for their invaluable contributions that broadened the perspectives of participants. He emphasized the importance of integrating global innovations into local academic practices to address the sustainable challenges. Dr. Akshay Kumar reflected on the key highlights of the program, appreciating the variety of thought-provoking topics such as sustainability, artificial intelligence, and healthcare innovations.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Anjali Dhar expressed heartfelt appreciation to the organizing committee, speakers, and participants for their active involvement and commitment. She encouraged everyone to apply the knowledge gained during the FDP to drive meaningful change in their curriculum. The technical support for the FDP was provided by Research scholars of the Department, Mr. Rohit and Ali Akbar and organising team applauded their seamless efforts
The participants who had joined this FDP from different parts of the country praised the efforts of organisers and extended their positive responses about the presentations of Resource persons as well.
The program’s success was attributed to the seamless collaboration of the organizing committee, the unwavering support of the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the leadership of the Central University of Jammu. This intellectually enriching week left participants inspired and motivated to contribute to a sustainable and innovative scientific future. The valedictory session ended on a positive note with a collective commitment to fostering sustainable development and technological advancement in academia.
