POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting in the conference hall of the DC Office to review preparations for the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram and Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The Deputy Commissioner discussed in detail various arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Vande Mataram celebrations. The programme will feature cultural performances, the Vande Mataram song, debate, drawing, painting, essay and singing competitions aimed at fostering patriotic spirit and public participation.

The Forest Department has been asked to undertake plantation drives and related activities, while the District Youth Services and Sports Department has been tasked with organizing sports events. The District Social Welfare Officer was also directed to engage actively and ensure the successful conduct of the celebrations.

Meanwhile, preparations for the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas were also reviewed in detail. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of the day in promoting unity, integrity and national integration as envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Key aspects discussed included route plans, security arrangements, traffic regulation, sanitation, medical aid, water supply and public participation. It was decided that the Run for Unity will commence at 7:30 AM from DAV Public School (near SK Bridge on Jhullas Road) and culminate at the Sports Stadium Poonch.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to work in close coordination to ensure the successful organization of the event. He called for wide public participation and awareness activities to make the celebrations more impactful and memorable.
