SRINAGAR: Police in Shopian in collaboration with Kashmir Pulse (NGO) organized a one-day Cyber Crime Awareness Programme under the theme "Cyber security empowering individual against cyber threats" and Women Peace & Security at Government Degree College Shopian. The event saw participation from SSP Shopian Ms. Tanushree-IPS, the college principal Dr. Shafeeq Ahmad, other senior Police officers of District Shopian, teachers and a large number of students from college & various schools of District Shopian.
Guest speakers discussed the comprehensive aspects of women empowerment and the long-term benefits of peace & security for society besides, also highlights the main cybercrime frauds like OTP frauds, online gaming frauds, credit card frauds etc. The main aim behind the cyber awareness programme is to provide awareness of cyber frauds among general public particularly in students.
SSP Shopian reiterated the district police's commitment to women peace, security and the overall safety of residents, emphasizing that the police work round the clock to ensure a secure environment for the community. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Shopian advised the students to adapt safe browsing habits to avoid suspicious websites while surfing the internet and appealed not to share OTPs or bank account details, passwords also adapt precautions while conducting internet banking and online transactions. Participants were also cautioned against accepting friend requests from unknown persons on social media. At the end, participants appreciated the efforts of Shopian Police for organizing such awareness and making general public aware about the cybercrime.
