JAMMU: The World Health Organization (WHO) Youth Council, in collaboration with global partners, convened a High-Level Meeting during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on the theme “The Algorithm Will Guide You Now: Youth, Education, Advice and AI.” The event was part of the UN High-Level Meeting on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Mental Health, focusing on the critical role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping the future of mental health care, youth well-being, and education.
The deliberations were hosted on the Stanford University Online Deliberation Platform, enabling wide global participation and meaningful youth engagement. Representing India at this prestigious global forum, Sushil Singh Charak, Founder and Chief Functionary of the Nations Development Association (NDA) and Former Secretary of the International Human Rights Organisation (IHRO), addressed the session.
In his intervention, Charak emphasized the urgent need to integrate AI tools responsibly into mental health strategies, stating: “Mental health challenges among youth are escalating worldwide. Artificial Intelligence can provide scalable, accessible, and innovative solutions – but it must be inclusive, ethical, and guided by human-centered principles.”
The session brought together youth leaders, health experts, and policymakers from across the world. Discussions centered on building stronger international cooperation to harness AI for equitable mental health care and education. The WHO Youth Council reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that young voices remain central in shaping global policies on technology, health, and human rights.
This engagement contributes significantly to advancing the global agenda on mental health, digital innovation, and youth participation, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
